Falafel is a popular Middle Eastern “fast food” made of a mixture of chickpeas (or fava beans), fresh herbs, and spices that are formed into a small patties or balls

Ingredients:

  1. Chickpeas(Kabuli chana): 2 cups
  2. Onion: 1 chopped
  3. Oil: for frying
  4. Salt: as per taste
  5. Green chillies: 3-4( add more according to taste)
  6. Corriander leaves: handful
  7. Cumin seeds: 1 teaspoon or in  powdered form
  8. Lemon: 1 or half a lemon juice ( optional)

Method:

  1. Wash and soak the chickpeas for overnight or for six hours.
  2. Drain the water and transfer to a mixer jar.
  3. Add onion, corriander leaves, green chillies,salt,lemon juice,cumin seeds and few drops of water and make a coarse mixture. Don not grind too much and do not make a fine paste.
  4. Do not add much water and it will be difficult to fry 
  5. Take a small portion of the mixture and make small balls out of it. You can fry balls or if you like you can flatten the ball and make a circle shape.
  6. Heat oil in a pan.
  7. Deep fry these balls on a medium to low flame until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  8. Serve falafel with your favourite dip or see the recipe below of tahini sauce.

Tahini sauce recipe



Tahini sauce


Tahini sauce:

It's made from tahini, a dense paste made from crushed sesame seeds. Tahini sauce is a mixture of tahini paste, lemon juice, garlic, and water. This traditional sauce is served in Israel and in Arab countries throughout the Middle East

Ingredients:

  1. Sesame seeds: 2 tablespoons
  2. Olive oil : 11/2 tablespoons
  3. Salt: little as per taste
  4. Garlic cloves:3-4
  5. Lemon juice:1

Method:

  1. Prepare all the ingredients.

  3. Add sesame seeds to a mixing jar. Add 2 teaspoons of water and make a fine paste.

  4. Mix in grinder
  5. Now add garlic cloves ,salt , lemon juice and blend for few seconds.

  6. Make a paste
  7. Add olive oil little by little mixing thoroughly.Blend this mixture for a minute until it turns into creamy texture.

  8. Creamy texture
  9. Tahini sauce is ready.
