Ridge Gourd curry (Turai chana dal)

Ingredients:
  • oil: 1 tbsp
  • onion: 1 chopped
  • ginger garlic paste: 1 tsp
  • turmeric powder:1/4 tsp
  • red chilli powder: 1 tsp
  • salt : 1/2 tsp
  • bengal gram or chana dal: 25 gms
  • water: 1 1/4 cup
  • ridge gourd : 250 gms
  • corriander leaves: handful
  • green chillies: 4-5

Method:

  • In a sauce pan add oil
  • When the oil is hot add 1 onion chopped.Stir till it turns brown then add ginger garlic paste,turmeric powder
  • stir 30 sec and add chana dal
  • Saute well and add 1/2 tea cup of water. Close the lid
  • Open the lid after 5 mins
  • Add salt,red chilli powderand ridge gourd cut into small pieces
  • Saute for 30 sec and add 1/2 teacup of water
  • close lid and cook on medium flame for 3-4 mins
  • Add 1/4 teacup of water few chooped corriander leaves and green chillies
  • Cook on low flame till the water dries
  • Switch off the flame and serve
